Iran's foreign ministry: US talks ongoing through Pakistan
Iran's foreign ministry has confirmed that talks with the US are ongoing through Pakistan as a mediator.
Speaking at a press conference, foreign ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said that the US had rejected the 14-point proposal submitted by Iran, before later submitting amendments through the Pakistani mediator.
He added that Iran discussed the amendments with the US on Sunday via Pakistan.
He also reported that Iranian and Omani technical teams convened in Oman to discuss establishing a mechanism for ensuring safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz.
Baghaei further affirmed that “Iran’s right to enrich uranium, based on international frameworks and the Non-Proliferation Agreement, is well-established and does not require the acknowledgement of outside parties.”
Iranian media confirmed on Monday that Iran has submitted a fresh 14-point proposal through Pakistan. A report by Tasnim news agency said that the new proposal is aimed at ending the war and building trust.
