Iranian oil tankers reach Indonesian waters despite blockade
TankerTrackers.com said a second Very Large Crude Carrier linked to Iran has entered the Lombok Strait and is heading towards the Riau Archipelago.
The firm identified the vessel as DERYA, saying it had evaded the United States Navy after a failed attempt to deliver about 1.88 million barrels of crude to India.
In a post on X, TankerTrackers said: “We then spotted her continuing south after that, at a time when her sister ships in the area were being redirected back to Iran by the US Navy. She’s currently underway to her rendezvous point in the Riau archipelago.”
The update followed a similar report on the tanker HUGE, as the firm added that several Iranian tankers have either reached destinations, been redirected or seized amid the ongoing maritime restrictions.
