Video: Lebanese PM says 'scorched-earth policy’ will not ensure Israel’s security
Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam denounced what he described as a dangerous Israeli escalation in the south, calling for an immediate ceasefire and insisting that a “scorched-earth policy” would not ensure Israel’s security, after Israel launched new strikes across south Lebanon following evacuation warnings.
“We have consciously and responsibly decided to pursue the most appropriate option to protect Lebanon and the Lebanese people under these circumstances — the option of negotiations,” Salam said in a televised address ahead of a new round of US-brokered talks with Israel.
