Route 66, the 2,448-mile-long road that cuts through the United States turns 100 years old this year. To celebrate the anniversary the US Postal Service has commissioned photographer David J. Schwartz, who has spent two decades documenting the iconic route, to produce a special series of Route 66 stamps. The eight new postmarks capture something unique in each of the states the road passes through.
