Rights groups file complaint against Polish TNT producer over Gaza war crimes

Three international organisations have filed a criminal complaint against Polish state-owned company Nitro-Chem, accusing representatives of the Nato alliance’s largest TNT producer of alleged involvement in international crimes against Palestinians in Gaza.

The complaint was filed by the Hind Rajab Foundation, the International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH) and the European Legal Support Center (ELSC). Three Palestinian rights groups, including Al-Haq, Al-Mezan and the Palestinian Centre for Human Rights, as well as individual survivors, will join proceedings and submit evidence detailing the scale of destruction in Gaza.

The case is based on a report by the Palestinian Youth Movement, Shadow World Investigations and the Movement Research Unit, which says Nitro-Chem’s TNT is used in the production of weapons, including Mk 80-series bombs, BLU-109 penetrator bombs and 155mm artillery shells.

"Their use in densely populated civilian areas breaches fundamental principles of international humanitarian law, on distinction, proportionality and precaution in attacks," Hind Rajab Foundation said.

"Yet, Israel has reportedly employed tens of thousands of these types of munitions across Gaza, including in densely populated areas," it added.
