Qatar to return to normal liquefied natural gas production 'within a few weeks'

Qatar's Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani has said that the Gulf state would resume its usual levels of liquefied natural gas production (LNG) “within a few weeks”, the Financial Times reported on Wednesday.

He also told the FT that establishing a hotline between the US and Iran was essential to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

QatarEnergy suspended LNG production following Iranian attacks on its huge Ras Laffan plant in March.

An explosion at Ras Laffan on Sunday caused by a "technical accident" killed 13 people and injured at least 66 others.
