Pakistan opens new transit routes to facilitate Iran trade

Pakistan has authorised new transit routes, allowing Iran to import goods from third countries through its territory.

The routes connect major ports, including Karachi, Port Qasim and Gwadar, with border crossings in Balochistan.

The move took effect immediately and came during a visit by Iran’s foreign minister, Abbas Araghchi.

Analysts say the policy could speed up cargo movement, reduce bureaucratic delays and strengthen Pakistan’s role as a regional trade corridor.
