Lebanese and Israeli delegations meet for military talks in US

The US Department of War said delegations from Lebanon and Israel held what it described as productive military-to-military talks in Washington, focused on developing practical frameworks for regional security and stability.

In a statement, the Pentagon praised the commitment shown by both sides and reiterated US support for Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, while calling for a state free of armed non-state actors.

The discussions come amid continuing tensions along the Lebanese-Israeli border and ongoing military operations in southern Lebanon.

The talks coincided with comments by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who said Israeli forces had advanced deeper into Lebanon but had not crossed the Litani River, a key geographic line located roughly 30 kilometres north of the border.
