Israeli strike kills two Lebanese officers and one soldier

Two Lebanese officers and one soldier were killed on Saturday in an Israeli strike on a military vehicle on the Khardali-Nabatieh road in south Lebanon, the Lebanese army said.

The Israeli military said it targeted the vehicle after identifying what it described as a threat to its forces and receiving "indications" that Hezbollah was preparing to fire on its troops from the area.

Two Lebanese army officers and the soldier were inside the vehicle when it was hit by the Israeli strike. The Lebanese army has, for the most part, not been involved in fighting between Hezbollah and Israel.

More than 3,500 people have been killed and more than 10,000 injured in Lebanon, as Israel has devastated large parts of the south and struck the capital, Beirut. Nearly 1 million people remain displaced from their homes.
