Israeli forces killed a Palestinian teenager in the occupied West Bank city of Hebron late on Wednesday.

Ibrahim al-Khayyat, 16, was shot in the abdomen by troops during a raid in the al-Hawooz area, according to medics.

Local media said Israeli forces stormed the area with a large number of military vehicles, closed the main road and forced shop owners to shut their businesses.

The raid was accompanied by live gunfire and tear gas fired at residents, resulting in two people being wounded, including al-Khayyat.

The wounded were taken to the Red Crescent hospital in the city, where al-Khayyat was pronounced dead.

At least one Palestinian was arrested during the assault, which also included a raid on the headquarters of a charitable association.

Earlier in the day, Israeli forces killed Abd el-Halim Hammad during a raid in the town of Silwad, near Ramallah.

Israeli forces carry out daily raid-and-arrest operations across the West Bank, often involving the use of live fire.

Israeli killings of Palestinians in the West Bank have risen significantly since October 2023.

At least 1,080 Palestinians have been killed since then, including at least 35 this year, according to the UN. Thousands more have been wounded.

Meanwhile, settler violence has also increased, with an average of 140 attacks per month - nearly double the rate recorded before October 2023.

These attacks have become more organised, targeting Palestinian communities in Area C, which makes up about 60 per cent of the West Bank, to displace them.

Approximately 40,000 Palestinians have been forcibly displaced from their homes in the West Bank since January 2025, including more than 3,000 driven out by settler attacks, according to UN data.

The scale of displacement is the worst since the 1967 occupation, according to UN officials.
