Israel pushes to encircle Nabatieh as ground operations expand
Israeli troops have expanded their ground operations after crossing the Litani River and are continuing to push north towards the city of Nabatieh, Al Jazeera reported.
Forces have reportedly reached the outskirts of Choukine, where residents were issued a forced evacuation order earlier in the day, while other units are advancing along the ridge line overlooking the Marjayoun district, the report said.
According to the report, Israeli forces appear to be attempting to encircle Nabatieh while advancing towards surrounding towns under heavy air strikes, drone attacks and artillery bombardment.
The offensive follows blanket evacuation orders issued earlier this week for both Nabatieh and the city of Tyre.
