Israel, Lebanon envoys hail ‘historic’ moment at White House
Israeli and Lebanese ambassadors have struck an optimistic tone during talks in Washington, praising US efforts to broker progress.
Speaking alongside US President Donald Trump in the Oval Office, Yechiel Leiter said Israel and Lebanon "have never been next to each other more than today."
He thanked Trump and Vice President JD Vance, calling the meeting a long-awaited breakthrough.
"We are going to keep going, working for peace. Let's hope we will get it as soon as possible," he said.
Lebanese envoy Nada Hamadeh Moawad also praised the meeting.
"I think with your help, with your support, we can make Lebanon great again," she said, after thanking Trump for presiding over "this historic moment."
