Iran submits ‘framework’ for talks, stresses trust gap with US

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and foreign minister Abbas Araghchi have submitted what was described as a workable framework for talks to mediators in Islamabad, Al Jazeera reported.

Pezeshkian, in talks with Shehbaz Sharif, stressed that trust remains the central issue, pointing to the blockade around the Strait of Hormuz and military activity in the Sea of Oman as major obstacles.

He said Iran remains open to dialogue but requires a “respectful environment” for progress.
