Iran lawmaker says US role in region has ended
Ebrahim Azizi, chairman of the Iranian Parliament's National Security Committee, said the “era of US interference in regional affairs is over” and argued that Washington would gain nothing from a renewed role in the region.
“The strategic Strait of Hormuz is an inseparable part of Iran’s national sovereignty, and its management is solely under the control of the Islamic Republic of Iran,” Azizi said.
He also rejected calls for the disarmament of Hezbollah, arguing that “Lebanon’s sovereignty will be ensured not by disarming the resistance, but by ending occupation and aggression.”
