A record increase in the number of death sentences and executions worldwide in 2025. This is what Amnesty International’s recently published annual report reveals. As usual, China accounts for the highest number of cases, thought to be the world's lead executioner. But the humanitarian organisation also attributes this figure to Iran, where the number of executed nearly doubled compared to 2024.
