Australia secures jet fuel shipments amid Iran war concerns

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said the government has secured three shipments of jet fuel totalling more than 600,000 barrels, or about 100 million litres.

The move, he said, aims to strengthen national fuel supplies amid a global energy crunch linked to the US-Israel war on Iran, Reuters reported on Monday.

A statement from Albanese’s office also said Australia had obtained an additional 38,500 tonnes of agricultural-grade urea fertiliser from Brunei.

The prime minister said the jet fuel cargoes, sourced from China, are expected to begin arriving in Australia in early June.
