As Armenia heads to the polls, Karabakh refugees face growing marginalisation

With Armenia heading to the polls for a critical parliamentary election, a bitter internal battle has taken center stage. Since the fall of Nagorno-Karabakh in 2023, more than 100,000 ethnic Armenians have fled. But as Prime Minister Pashinyan campaigns heavily on a final peace accord with Azerbaijan, refugees face an unexpected second front: legal marginalisation and hostile rhetoric from the very top.
