WHO: Lebanon’s hospitals may run out of medical supplies in days

Lebanon’s hospitals could run out of vital medical supplies within days following mass casualties from large-scale Israeli bombardment of the country on Wednesday, the World Health Organization (WHO) warned on Thursday.

The trauma medical kits running low include bandages, antibiotics and anaesthetics to treat patients sustaining life-threatening injuries from the strikes, the WHO stated.

“Some of the trauma management supplies were in short [supply] and we may run out in a few days,” WHO representative in Lebanon Dr Abdinasir Abubakar told Reuters.

“If we have another mass casualty, like what happened yesterday, it will be a disaster,” Abubakar said, warning that hospitals are already overwhelmed, with roughly three weeks' worth of supplies being depleted in one day.
