White House warned staff against betting on Iran war, report says
The White House warned its employees not to exploit their positions to place well-timed bets on prediction markets amid the Iran war, The Wall Street Journal reported, citing sources familiar with the matter.
According to the report, the warning was sent in a staff-wide email late last month, shortly after US President Donald Trump announced a sudden pause in strikes on Iran.
The report said, citing Dow Jones Market Data, that more than $760 million worth of oil futures contracts changed hands in less than two minutes, about 15 minutes before the sudden shift in policy.
