Video: Israeli activist arrested as police disperse anti-war protest

Israeli activist Alon-Lee Green was arrested after police moved in on an anti-war protest in Tel Aviv, detaining multiple demonstrators as officers forcibly dispersed the gathering.

Green, a leading figure in the Jewish-Arab movement Standing Together, had joined protesters opposing Israel’s ongoing war and assault on neighbouring countries and its escalation across the region, as well as the genocide and destruction in Gaza.

Demonstrators chanted against the war and demanded an end to the onslaught, as Israeli authorities continue to suppress dissent while continuing to carry out atrocities.

His arrest comes amid a broader crackdown on anti-war activism, with multiple demonstrators detained at the same protest and others arrested in recent weeks at similar rallies across Israel.

Following the arrests, protesters were left on buses when air raid sirens sounded.

Police refused to allow those detained to enter nearby shelters, leaving them trapped on a bus in the street and creating tense scenes as protesters begged.

Rights groups and activists say arrests, dispersals and police force are increasingly being used to shut down protests opposing the war and the ongoing genocide in Gaza, as public dissent continues to grow.
