US Senator calls Trump’s attack on pope ‘abhorrent’
US Senator Mark Kelly criticised President Donald Trump for his remarks about Pope Leo XIV, calling them “abhorrent” in a post on X.
“As a Catholic, I find it abhorrent that the President of the United States would publicly attack the Successor of St. Peter,” Kelly wrote.
He said that Trump’s policies on Iran have led to casualties and that the president “will attack anyone or anything to try to protect himself.”
