South Korea appoints envoy to Iran to ensure safety of vessels in the region
South Korea’s Foreign Ministry has chosen a new special envoy to Iran who will be headed towards Tehran shortly, according to the Yonhap News Agency.
Chung Byung-ha will address the safety of vessels belong to the country amid their passage in the region. According to the official news agency, 26 vessels linked to Seoul remain stranded in the Strait of Hormuz due to Iranian restrictions.
The ambassador's appointment comes a day after Foreign Minister Cho Hyun held a call with his Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araghachi.
