Oman and Iran hold talks on reopening Strait of Hormuz

Discussions come as Israel, US and Iran continue to exchange fire in Middle East

Oman has spoken with Iran about reopening the Strait of Hormuz, according to the sultanate's official news agency.
The meeting involved members of the foreign ministries of both countries, who presented possible "options" for reopening the passage.
"Oman and the Islamic Republic of Iran held a meeting at the deputy ministers level in the foreign ministries of the two countries, with the attendance of specialists from both sides," the news agency posted on X.
Omani territory borders the Strait of Hormuz, which has been largely sealed off by Tehran since the beginning of the US-Israeli attack on the country in February.
The news comes as Israel and the US continue to pummel Iran from the air.
At least nine people were killed and eight wounded in US strikes in Iran’s Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad province, while Israel said it hit more than 120 Iranian air defence and missile systems in the past 24 hours.
A strike on a key petrochemical site in southwestern Iran killed five people and wounded around 170, according to Iranian media, while strikes also killed five fighters from Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
"Following the brutal attacks of the American-Israeli enemy on the Moghan Plain... five IRGC fighters have attained martyrdom," said Iran's official IRNA news agency, citing a statement by the IRGC in the northwestern Ardabil province.
Meanwhile, drone attacks damaged power and water plants in Kuwait, while Bahrain said a fire at a Bapco facility has been extinguished after an Iranian strike.
Fires broke out at Abu Dhabi’s Borouge petrochemical plant after debris from an interception fell on the site, forcing a suspension of operations.
An Iranian rocket also reportedly struck a factory in southern Israel, prompting fears of a potential chemical spill.
According to Israeli media, the projectile landed in the Neot Hovav industrial zone in Beersheba, the third such strike on the site since the war began.
The Israeli Home Front Command earlier announced a warning after detecting missile launches from Iran towards Beersheba and Dimona. Sirens were also activated in the Upper Galilee after rockets were fired from Lebanon.
