Macron says Hormuz military option ‘unrealistic’
French President Emmanuel Macron has rejected calls to use force to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, saying such a move would be impractical and dangerous.
Speaking during a visit to South Korea on Thursday, Macron pushed back against proposals, sometimes voiced by the United States, to secure the waterway through military action.
"Some people defend the idea of freeing the Strait of Hormuz by force via a military operation, a position sometimes expressed by the United States, although it has varied," he said.
"This was never the option we have supported because it is unrealistic," he added, warning of prolonged risks.
