Iran targets Saudi petrochemical site as Israel strikes Shiraz facility
Iran has attacked a petrochemical complex in Saudi Arabia’s Jubail industrial city in the Eastern Province, according to the semi-official Fars news agency, marking a sharp escalation in regional tensions.
Saudi authorities have not yet commented on the reported strike.
Earlier, the Israeli military said it carried out an attack on a petrochemical site in Shiraz, southwestern Iran.
In a statement, it said it “struck a petrochemical facility where nitric acid was produced for the Iranian terror regime’s Armed Forces”.
“The facility was one of the last remaining compounds producing critical chemical components for explosives and materials for developing ballistic missiles in Iran,” it claimed, without providing evidence.
The exchange signals a widening confrontation targeting strategic energy infrastructure.
