French drivers choke on soaring diesel prices

In France, a massive jump in the price of diesel fuel is having a particularly onerous effect on the country's drivers. French economic policies from the 1970s and 80s turned the country into one of the most diesel-dependent nations in the Western world. But less and less of the fuel is being refined in France - leading to price spikes at the pump even more pronounced than for gasoline.
