Axios: Iran rejects Gaza-style truce which exists on paper but US-Israel attack at will
Iranian officials have told mediators they do not want a ceasefire arrangement similar to those in Gaza or Lebanon, where there is a truce on paper but where the US and Israel can attack again whenever they want to, Axios reported.
The US media outlet, citing four US, Israeli and regional sources, said Tehran is seeking stronger guarantees in any deal.
Negotiations are being conducted through Pakistani, Egyptian and Turkish mediators, as well as messages exchanged between US envoy Steve Witkoff and Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, the report said.
The sources described the chances of reaching even a partial agreement within the next 48 hours as “slim.”
